Dr Chris Allgrove is an internationally recognized expert and independent advisor with 25 years of experience in identity, biometrics, identity-related AI and cybersecurity
Chris is co-founder of Ingenium Biometric Laboratories, a biometrics and digital identity technology test laboratory delivering test, research and development, consultancy and training services to a wide range of clients.
Previously serving as Head of Identity at the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), Chris has played a key role in shaping national and international identity security strategies
A leading authority on biometric security standards, Chris is the co-editor of ISO/IEC 30107-3 and ISO/IEC 25456, the global standards for biometric presentation attack detection and injection attack testing. He is also the author of the NCSC’s guidance on biometric system security and a contributor to NCSC’s widely referenced password guidance
Beyond standards development, Chris serves as a technical expert for the Biometrics Institute, promoting the responsible and ethical use of biometrics worldwide. As a senior advisor to the World Bank and the EU, he provides strategic guidance on biometric deployment in global identity programmes
Committed to advancing authentication technologies, Chris actively contributes to the FIDO Alliance, participating in working groups on biometrics and identity verification and supporting FIDO certification programmes
