Alastair Treharne is an expert security advisor on identity technologies across humanitarian, development, public and private sectors.
A senior digital identity entrepreneur with a strong commercial background and proven success delivering results in a variety of business contexts, Alastair has extensive experience in running and working with Boards, public policy development, and broad stakeholder engagement across the global KYC and digital identity ecosystem.
He advises clients across industry including banking, insurance, asset management, and private equity; UK Government, United Nations and World Bank; US federal agencies including the US Treasury, the United States Digital Service, Department for Homeland Security; the Australian Government and European Commission eID activities.
Alastair led work with HM Treasury, JMLSG and the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) that reflected digital identity best practice in global and national financial services AML and KYC guidance and legislation, land ed the development of the UK DI trust framework, and identity standards (GPG 45)
In addition to being an advisor to Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, Alastair sits on a number of identity expert groups at International Organisation for Standardisation, Open Identity Foundation, Digital Identity and Authentication Council of Canada, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the FIDO Alliance, and Open Identity Exchange. He is also presently a member of the All Party Parliamentary Group on digital identity.
