FIDO’s Biometric Journey – Certification for Performance, Presentation Attack Detection, and Future Needs

In an open ecosystem, it is important to understand the performance of biometric recognition technology to mitigate security risks without sacrificing user experience. FIDO has journeyed from a primary focus on the False Accept Rate (protection from an imposter matches the reference for another person) to focusing on Presentation Attack Detection (PAD) (protection from spoofing using masks or fake fingerprint). More recently, FIDO is developing a certification program for face recognition for remote identity proofing and mitigation of bias. The session will give an overview the purpose of biometric testing, FIDO’s current programs and new programs in the pipeline.
