Passkeys have been all the rage over the last year. Launched in 2022 as a password replacement that is safer, faster, and easier to use, passkeys are an evolutionary response within the FIDO specification to accelerate global adoption of FIDO capabilities to help achieve the FIDO Alliance’s mission to help reduce the world’s over-reliance on passwords. Early adoption across many consumer web sites has been steady and encouraging.
