Securing IoT and Device Onboard Using a PUF-based Device Identity

Session Details

Nowadays, IoT is has been profoundly impacting our daily living. While we are embracing the convenience brought by the IoT, the underlying security issues may be harmful, and hence security is one major consideration in IoT. Securely identifying devices is usually a prioritized requirement because it is the root of many security features.

In a secure device identification scheme, having a unique identity with a guaranteed confidentiality and integrity on each device is the security root, and an identity meeting this requirement can be constructed using a PUF. Taking the example of the new FIDO device onboard specification, the feasibility of using a PUF-based solution to secure IoT will be illustrated.
